Hello Garci Scandal Tape

Hello Garci scandal is the probably the queen of all scandals. This is because this scandal involves the former president of the Philippines Gloria Macapagal Arroyo. In this scandal, former Pres. Gloria Arroyo and former Comelec Commissioner Garci was caught in a telephone conversation that talked about the status of the result of the national election. This conversation was inappropriate because the president was not supposed to talk about or interfere in the affairs of the Comelec. Likewise, this so called Hello Garci Scandal Tape was also inappropriately obtained because it was recorded through a wiretapping operation against former president.

The Hello Garci Scandal represents the extreme form of corruption in the Philippines. This scandal deteriorated the trust of the people on Comelec and the results of the elections. It was the highest form of electrion result interference. Though it was not proven that Gloria Arroyo manipulated the result of he election, this incident sparked a lot of speculations regarding manipulation, corruption or dagdag-bawas of the election results.
