Manny Pacquiao Twitter Scandal : Manny Pacquiao - Lolong Panot Scandal

Have you watched the latest scandal ? The Manny Pacquiao - Lolong Panot scandal ? Well, it is hotter and sexier because it is a twitter scandal! Nowadays, twitter has become the no. 1 one source of scandals. Secrets are now first revealed on twitter and above all it reveals the character of the person behind a twitter account. Just lately, Manny Pacquiao twitted a line that says "e di magreklamo ka lolo mong panot" (in english, it literally translates to "go complain to your bald grandfather"). This was the reply of Manny Pacquiao when he was asked by one of his twitter followers as to why did he run for congressman if he knew that he could not attend a session in congress.

This reply of Cong. Manny Pacquiao sounds inappropriate and unhonorable. However, in my own opinion, this type of reply is a sign of being "pikon" in Filipino. I think it is only natural that sometimes you lose patience and temper when you are asked with a disrectful question. The person who must be blaimed here must be the one who twitted this. The question actually insults not Manny Pacquaio but the people of Sarangani province. Sarangani locals knew that Manny Pacquiao would have limitations in attending congress sesions because of his profession. But the people in Sarangani voted Manny Pacquiao as their representative because they believe that he can serve better than anyone else in their area. They also believe that it is not how long or how much one attend sessions in congress but how sincere and capable a candidate is in serving his constituents. The people in Sarangani are giving Manny Paquiao a chance to become a politician by first becoming a congressman as a stepping stone to becoming a senator or maybe a president. Who knows.

But the main issue here is respect. When someone disrespects you in public such as in twitter, it is natural that you reply in somehow disrespectful or unhonorable way. Moreover, I don't believe that that reply was so unhonorable or disrespectful. It was just a ''pikon" reply to a stupid question thrown by a stupid person.
