The Philippines Celebrates 111th Independence Day Today

The Philippines celebrates its 111th Anniversary of its Independence today June 12, 2009. The Philippines declared independence from the Spain on June 12, 1898 in Kawit Cavite. The historic declaration was lead by General Emilio Aguinaldo who became the first president of the republic of the Philippines. This was the day when the first Philippine National flag was raised and the Philippine National Anthem was sung.
